R e v i e w  a n d  P r o s p e c t s

September 8-10, 2005 in Berlin, Germany
Hosted by: The Federal Ministry for Traffic, Construction and Housing.  In 1975, the European Council initiated one of the most successful urban development programmes in recent history. Through it a new appreciation and understanding of the European City resulted, not just in Western but in Eastern Europe as well.
The goal was the protection of the built, cultural inheritance, the rehabilitation of the historical essence of the city, and the re-establishment of the concept that the European City is tradition that must be carefully developed.

The international Congress in Berlin will concentrate on the special issues and traditions involved in European city development and will examine these in two sessions:

• Berlin as an example of city development after modernism
• Examples of new city development trends from other cities in Europe and elsewhere During both sessions, the actual participants in these projects and congress attendees will discuss
which projects were successful and for what reasons, which problems and tendencies could be identified, and what can be learned from these examples for the future.
We would ask you to mark your calenders for this event.
A fee for the Congress will be announced.

The Congress programme will be published in April.
